Hello just came back from a nice day out and my engine has developed a squeaking noise. Its gets louder and changes pitch on aceleration. When I had the bonnet up it only comes in when you rev up and I cant isolate what part of the engine it is coming from.
Many thanks
Travis

Re: Help please squeeking sound when acelerating
sounds like the number 1 exhaust stud which can shear off (best guess) the 1 nearest the front
could be slipping fan belt
in inlet manifold gasket

Number one exhaust stud is favourite - lift the passenger seat and it's the one on the left of the manifold.

Yes !! but get it fixed at the earliest convienent oppertunity. It will start to "burn" away at the gasket and mateing surfaces....Check thats what it is though first...see the tiny red arrow on the photo.

Thanks for your help.
Complete novice so I had to go on you tube to find how to open the engine.
Looked under the seat and found it
Its not number one stud, I think its the fan belt.
Went to my local garage who sprayed the belt with "belt fluid" and it got worse.
Went to a "Bongo friendly" garage who didnt look under the seat and said cam belt and quoted me £50 to change it.
I will leave it a while, it seems to improve.
Will it totally stop? as I have only had the Bongo a week and it may be a new one?

Re: Help please squeeking sound when acelerating
Going around a roundabout today and heard a thud and my power steering failed and luckily I was able to coast off the roundabout and park up. The AA man diagnosed a broken alternator belt (it must have been too tight and was squeaking).
The AA were unable to fix it, so they returned it to the dealer who will fix it instead.
Only had the Bongo a week and had planned our first weekend away starting this evening.
However on the positive side the weather looks dodgy and I could have been overtaking on the motorway

Re: Help please squeeking sound when acelerating
Squeaking is usually belt related. No 1 stud is more of a very loud chirping sound.
Sounds like a cheap fix all the same & the weather is bound to be better next weekend.
