Towbar Fitter

Post by Hippotastic » Tue Jun 02, 2009 5:19 pm

Anybody used or recommend and Towbar fitter in the Bedfordshire area?

I live in Flitwick, a town in the triangle of Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes, off the M1 J12

I have thought about fitting a towbar myself, but to be honest, I would rather ask someone else who does these things all day to do it for me.

Many thanks.

Hippo.

hmm no one had a towbar fitted then in my area? I guess I will just have to ring about to get it done.

Thanks anyhow.

Nearest I've had one fitted is just your side of Cambridge, not far from the huge Tesco @ Bar Hill, they did a good job.

40 miles away --- too far I guess.

Hi there,

I had one put on my car last year. TBH it didn't look that hard to do, okay the guy knew what he was doing, had a ramp so access was easier etc but the towbar was simply a bolt on installation. The bumper didn't need removing etc.

The wiring was taken from the rear lamp clusters that again are easy to remove and gain access, although I'd recommend soldering not scotchlocks that were used on mine (another job to add to my list !!).

Maybe worth getting a towbar, having a go and if you get stuck go through the yellow pages etc and get a local fitter to come and fit it. Nothing to loose but a bit of time maybe and it maybe easier than you think.

Mine is a towsure, happy to take some pics of the mountings later if that helps, so long as it stops raining.
