I have used gas top up kit too, from ebay cost £30 with guage. Air con had stopped working at all, but after using kit all was well again. Was Castrol brand, suppose to rjuvenate older systems and seal leaks, contain about 400g of gas, oil and conditioner. Did this about a month ago and still working. Viewing glass on mine shows green not white though.

Thanks smitch - is that somewhere under the bonnet (front nearside) as thats the only place I recall seeing aircon gubbins like the top up point etc. (I know nowt about aircon servicing)

Pleased to see that that Bongo Entrepreneurs go boldly! I have used Air Con top-up kits on other vehicles succesfully......but not sure where to make the connection to the A/C system on my Bongo (1999 'Facelift' diesel SGL5 Auto Freetop with camper conversion....dual A/C with Climate Control). Kit advises using the 'Low Pressure' service connection....where is this located on my Bongo?......I have spotted a service connection point in front of the radiator which has HP on the cap.....if that is in fact the 'High Pressure' is there another 'Low pressure' point somewhere else? Many thanks (in anticipation of a 'cool' Summer....maybe!)

No, the air pipe with H on the cap is the high pressure pipe.
The low pressure pipe has an L on it and is situated behind the radiator about a foot down from the top of the engine bay, about a foot back from the front of the engine bay.
If you look at the big fuse box that sist on top, under the bonnet, it is under there, about a foot down.
No need to remove anything to get to it.

I have a slightly different air con problem.

When I switch the climate control to auto the fans come on fine, the a/c pump works and plenty of cold air is blown out but after only two minutes the fans just stop but all the bars are still lit up on the display to indicate that the fans should be on. Any ideas or am I looking at a replacement climate control unit?

I do not know for sure, but I guess that the climate control unit activities, and the resultant auto fan settings are controlled from data supplied via the interior temperature sensor unit.
I would check that this is not obstructed or blocked in any way before examining the climate control unit itself.
Maybe the sensor needs a clean, or a new sensor, which is probably cheaper than a new unit.
Try that first if you agree with the logic.
Does it work for longer on the manual setting ?

No, the fans cut out on manual setting too. I don't think it could be the sensor because all the fan indicator bars are illuminated indicating that the control system "believes" that the fans are on.

No idea then.
Best of luck.
If you cure it, post the explanation :D

It sounds like you have the electronic version. The control circuit has a relay that bypasses a transistor which is used to control the speed, it could be that whilst the relay is operating (for max power) the fans run, but that when it releases and passes control to the transistor either the transistor has blown or its control circuit isn't working, see the diagram below;

See G3-04 Transistor and G3-05 Relay (Max/Hi).
