front end judders
Hi can anyone advise or direct me to a fourum on diagnosing possible suspension faults , such as worn out shocks or bushes , U brackets , roll bar issues, The bongo feels like it doesent stop (or absorb) a shock from the road, then amplifies sometimes , when in a low rev pre auto change down, instance, when starting to accelerate (engine trying to come up through its low end) This is possibly not connected to the Judder, I just thought it would be a shock but all advice would be great.

My Bongo is a four wheel drive, This judder is slight and definitely starts with a bump in the road. Its appeared in the last couple hundred miles.
Re: front end judders
I have been doing a bit of reading in here and am tempted to do droplinks u brakets and bushes what does folk think?
Though just been outside and rocked the van by grabbing the gutter, and she keeps rocking for two maybe three decreasing, but definitely not stopping dead. possible shocks eh??

Re: front end judders
Your description of the judder when accelerating points to a transmission problem. Have a look in "search" for viscous coupling or VC. Thats why I asked if you had 2 or 4WD

Re: front end judders
many thanks,
hope not too expensive , the "under acceleration" thing, could be (I kinda hope) In my head. and just be a suspension thing.
I will take her for a drive tomorrow and experiment, but if not a transmission problem what else would my description lead to?
thanks for your interest
Paul.

Re: front end judders
Many many factors of physics can cause this, the most common seems to be out of balanced wheels.
My own recent experience, giving the same results, turned out to be a worn ball joint on the n/s wishbone.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Re: front end judders
If a shock absorber has failed, the wheel will bounce excessively on the spring because it is now undamped

Hi
Definitely shock absorber totally Kaput or something very loose if you rock the car several times by the gutter , and it continues several times (decreasing), after you've stopped. Even with a partially knackered shock, it shouldn't do that....one residual bounce on releasing, at most. Also check transmission as Dandy says....that doesn't sound good.
Cheers

I find most Bongos - new or old bounce more than once.

Hi Dandy
OK I defer to your knowledge. I was just basing on my Bongo which only rebounds once (P.S. my N/S front strut leaks....so it's none too good
)....and the ORIGINAL MAZDA replacement drop-links and anti-bonking bushes are KO'd in less than a year...I think I'm going to replace the droplinks with uncooked spaghetti as an upgrade
Cheers

Cheers all,
Havent had a chance to get out and drive but I,m thinking shock as it felt like it did once in anouther car and the gear box / transmission is too scary to contemplate.
do they suddenly go, or is it normally a slow "decrease" in in function shockwise?
