Hi guys
Advice Please,
My Bongo has A problem
AUTO GEARBOX
It has started to make a rough noise (Sounds Like I'm dragging something behind me). When I go to pull away it's like the brakes are stuck on and all of a sudden flys forward. Changes up and down ok apart form the noise but when I put the Hold button on its fine no noise and drives ok. Struggles to find reverse and really feels like the brakes are when you try.
I drove it very slowly to a friendly garage with the hold on doing 45mph.
He will be looking at it next week.
just wondered if anybody else has had this problem/repair or can give me a clue to what it is.
Cheers
Steve

Hmmmm - sounds dodgy and like you need a specialist. Hopefully Dandywarhol (who frankly is the Bongo Bees Knees) will spot this post and may have a thought. But otherwise I reckon its a gearbox specialist and/or a new box (I notice the come up for not too bad prices if someone is breaking a Bongo on ebay so...)
Have you checked fluid levels and condition? Strange you are not getting a flashing HOLD light to indicate summats wrong

Sounds like pump pressure is low - have you checked the level? Unfortunately it sounds like it's too late and some mechanical damage has occured
Or.......the torque convertor one way clutch has broken inside.

Ok Finally got the Bongo Back tonight
The box was completely shot (I am waiting for the full report and hard copy bill to come through from Dunnings)
But I would like to big up both the garage guy (Lac @ A L Motors in Braintree) and the gearbox guy (Simon @ Dunnings Automatics in Weymouth).
Both of these guys have given top service and the Bongo is running well (Just in time for her indoors to use it for Glasto).
Cheers

Great news. Did they give any feedback on what might have caused it to give up the ghost?Bongo Boozer wrote:Ok Finally got the Bongo Back tonight
