Good evening... (asking questions from my Dad, hope it makes sense)
Does anyone know the torque settings for the head gasket (plus any other gaskets that get changed in the process),
Does anyone know the correct inlet valve clearance/tappets.
This coming weekend my mechanically minded Dad is gonna have a go at replacing the head gasket on my bongo (got a £900 offer from a garage and decided against it....possible cracked head too, so want to check that ourselves too.).
Many thanks to anyone that can help.
Regards
Jon

You will also need new stretch bolts as you can only use them once. It is also a good time to replace timing belt. It is a lot of work as you need to remove a lot of parts.
Be sure to mark everything and take photos to enable refitting.
Good luck
Brian

There's a lot on info on here about changing the head gasket, so worth doing your research on the forum. With regard to valve clearances: according to the manual (adjusted cold)
Inlet 0.1mm +- 0.05mm
Exhaust 0.2mm +- 0.05mm
Inlet 0.1mm +- 0.05mm
Exhaust 0.2mm +- 0.05mm

I was thinking the same thing...
Already been and bought supplies.
160 tea bags and Milk.
Mr Kiplings Cherry Bakewells (My Dad can't work for more than an hour without at least 2 bakewell tarts)...
Egg and Bacon sandwiches at the ready...
Oh and I'd better go get a crate of fosters (to me it tastes like wee, personally I'd go for some real ale or a good lager, but he knows what he likes and everything else is rubbish, except cheap beer from Calais).
.....
On the brightside, having a broken vehicle made me cycle to work on Friday...so surely thats both saving me money and keeping on top of any hint of a beer belly...
Cheers
