Leisure Battery not charging

Post by littlejobby » Sun May 17, 2009 11:33 am

I have a Zig CF8 fitted and just found out it isn't charging the leisure battery everything works on mains hook up or from the main battery. I have checked with a meter and there is nothing going to the battery. I have read the manual for the unit but cant find an answer. As far as I'm aware there is no seperate charging relay, which is how the manual says it should be for a motorhome set up.
Any help appreciated.

If you have checked any fuses and the connections, both +ve and -ve, in line with the L/B and they are OK then it would appear to be the circuit within the CF8 - The manual, as you say, gives no useful clues other than castigating split charge relays and diodes.

If anybody has ever investigated a CF8 I would be interested in hearing what sort of circuit is used !

Might seem obvious, but have you got the switch set to "touring"? - see http://luggie.demon.co.uk/t25/zig-cf8.pdf

Hi I have a CF8, check the switch is set to touring.

On mine I'm sure it doesn't control the LB charging as there seems to be a split charge relay also fitted. The CF8 does claim to be able to handle charging so check the switch and all the fuses.

Good luck.

Yes had switch to touring nothing coming to the leisure battery. Will ring the technical dept for Zigs today. Will post the cure when discovered!! May just fit the relay anyway even though it say's you don't need one.

Thanks for the responces so far
