Replacement wheel arches / spats

Post by Lloydy » Sat May 16, 2009 8:32 pm

Hi all,

I have done a search on this subject but cant seem to find much useful info?

Basically i have rusty rear arches and they NEED some work urgently now.

My cousin can do the work but i need the arches.....

Is the general opinion that arches should be saught from a broken bongo or has anyone found a source for replacement metal / platic ones?

Any suggestions welcome as this is the next job on the list!!

Cheers tah,

your best bet is to approach a breakers and ask them to cut out a section of the rear panel and have that welded in

done properly not cheap :(

Who was the geezer (somewhere in the Midlands? a few months back?) who got rust cut out and new uuniversal arches welded in, and they looked pretty good too. He gave details on here so have a search, in case getting authentic Bongo arches cut out from a breaking one proves too hard to source. Alternatively, BF member Stinch has had moulds done of wheel arch trims and they should be on the market soon. I suppose you could cut out rust, do functional welding then slap on the arch trims so what was underneath didn't matter, if you get me

That sounds like the best solution to me.... I will try and get hold of them and see.

Seems silly that we havnt got a decent solution for this common problem... Hope this after market ones will do so?
