Electric sliding door problem

Picked up my very first Bongo this week - chuffed to bits!!! Still finding my way round it and getting used to it's little quirky bits but loving every minute.
First problem - the electric sliding door.
I've worked out that I'm supposed to close it to about half way and then the electric closing mechanism should kick in and close it automatically. It doesn't. No matter how slowly and carefully I close it nothing takes over. Then when I shut it, THATS when I get a load of whirring and electric type noises.
Am I missing something here and being a bit thick, or has anyone else had (and hopefully cured) this problem.

Welcome to a wide new world!!

The soft close motor will only gently pull the door shut after closing to the first "click".

It doesn't actually pull the door shut along the runners, yours sounds to be about right, unless the motor is whirring after its fully shut, in which case some adjustments may be necessary.

it needs to be almost closed ie in position half pushed in to the doorhole it just finished off the job

Just been outside for another look. NOW I see!!!!!! After it clicks shut, the electric motor kicks in and pulls the door in further - I can see it now I'm looking for it!

Lots of jokes I believe about VW camper owners slamming their sliding doors late at night on the campsite (grrrr!) while Bongo owners just press the door 'to' and let the whirring thing finish the job. Mind you, I still hear the distinctive sound of Bongo doors rolling along their runners late at night on the campsite. But thats OK - it tells me its 12 bells and all's right with the world

My 3 year old son also gets excited (bless him) but being in the back can only wave (and no-one can see him as the windows are darkened). If they don't wave back (notwithstanding that they can't see him) he'll say "They see us. They are busy watching what the idiot in front of them is going to do". Wonder where he got that from?

And as for your sliding door, at least you knew something was supposed to happen. No-one told me and I nearly trapped my fingers in it first time I shut it (it didn't look shut, so I put my hand out to give it that final nudge and the door-closer kicked in just as I touched the door).
