18 inch alloys fittings/tyres..

Hi.. I have just been offered some 18'' here in oz.
At the moment on the van are 205x65x15''...

Unfortunatly the tyres are goosed and the outside of the tyres stick out approx 10-15mm from the arch!!!( i have JUST tried 2 of them on the front but not on the back and I am a novice when it comes to offsets poss/neg.. etc.. Gladly there is NO sign of rubbing or scrapping when on FULL lock and driving the van...)

the alloys are off a NISSAN SKYLINE MK ONE.. 'AKURZA' 235x40x18 ZR , 615kgs Falken tyres.. Possitive offset of 35mm..8.5wide
so i am looking into possible CORRECT tyres to buy to keep within legal terms and so they dont stick out from the arches..If it will be cost effective of course..

I have looked on the sticker on the drivers door jamb and the ratings are as follows..
S rating tyres, 96 load rated..710kgs...

my questions are
1. Can i buy thinner tyres to bring the tyres in to the arches more like 225 instead of 235 and can i use a thicker height than 40mm, eg. 50mm profile, not sure what a common size would be in 18'' at 225mm x whatever???
2. do i need a minimum load rating for the tyres?
3. A work mate recons you can lossen one of the 2 nuts that are vertical in line together just on the inside upper part of the front wheel to help bring in the tyres?? (not sure that sounds good idea though.)
4. WHAT OTHER MAKES OF ALLOYS WILL FIT THE BONGO? TOYOTA, HONDA, MITSUBISHI, HYUNDAI, SUBARU, BMW ETC???

The load rating is on the plate (or should be) minimum 92 front and 96 rear.

Do a search on "load rating" or "load index" there is masses to read.

225/45x18 are the size tyres you want, to match the 215/65x15 fitted when new.
Have a look here for other cars that will fit the Bongo http://www.alloywheelsinternational.com ... UIDE1.html - you are looking for 5 stud with a PCD of 114.3 and a centre bore of 67.1mm. They can have a larger centre bore, but spigot rings will be required to make them fit properly.
As scanner says, you need a load rating of at least 92 front and 96 rear. Don't know about Oz, but 18" tyres are expensive here and you'll have difficulty finding a high enough load rating

If you're certain the offset is positive then it should be ok - negative offset is a deep dished wheel.

By the way - the 40 and 50 figures are a percentage figure, not a dimension - a 235/40 means the sidewall is 40% of 235 which is 94mm.
