Mould in ma roof
I put the roof up today to show off to a mate. When I looked inside to roof area I noticed mould on the canvas, I've not put the roof up in a couple of months and I have been keeping a sleeping bag up there along with a deflated airbed and a pillow. Is there anything I can do to stop, prevent and reverse this?

Hi - there's been a few threads on this before, searching on "dettol" will probably bring most of them up. General consensus of opinion is to use Dettol mold and mildew remover - which works a treat, but make sure it is well ventilated and don't breathe the spray in!Grizz wrote:I put the roof up today to show off to a mate. Someone also recommended oil of cloves. I tried this a few weeks ago, and haven't had a mold problem since (could be coincidence - but it was a regular occurrence before). It certainly killed the existing spores, and didn't leave any stain. I used a weak solution of the cloves, otherwise it'll smell like a dentist's waiting room. I'm going to stick with the cloves now, as dettol may destroy the fabric after prolonged use.

This comes up at least once a week, quick search on "mould and roof" - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... mit=Search
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Mould in ma roof
I had this problem when I kept stuff in the roof and the door shut. I cleaned the mould off sucessfully with Dettol and have not had a reoccurance since leaving the door into the roof open. The Dettol didn't cause any staining and I washed it off with water as soon as I felt it had done the job. I now only store my silver window covers up there. As mentioned earlier probably best not to use it to often as it may well damage the fabric.

Removing the roof and fitting a full length glass panel in it's place would definitely cure the problem I reckonGrizz wrote:I put the roof up today to show off to a mate. Hi, I followed all the excellent advice here when I had the same problem - dettol mould (a wonder cleaner, wouldn't know there had ever been any dampness), keep the hatch open and air the bongo frequently. Hasn't occured since and smells sweet as a daisy!!
