why my bongo stops when anytime I came off the motor way

Post by nkraniba » Sat May 09, 2009 12:10 pm

Please can anyone give me an answer or help, the problems I'm having my bongo is any time I go on the motor way driving between 70 and 80 miles per hour for 20 minutes or so. My engine cut out as soon as I made an exit and put my foot on the break.

But driving on A roads I don't get any problems.

70mph in the UK on a motorway and 130kph in much of Europe on dry autoroutes! Why drive fast? Life is short enough so enjoy. Also you wallet will thank you as the consumption drops sharply when driving over 60.

Hmm may be a fuel problem, check the fuel filter etc just in case, when was the last time it was serviced might be worth getting it checked over, if you put your location in someone will know a bongo friendly garage to try.

I generally find it advantagous to stop after a motorway slip road - saves demolishing the Little Chef wall.......................

Either my reply has slipped on to this thread by mistake or the title and original question have been edited so much that they are completely different. I responded to the question; "How fast can I drive my bongo?". If a lot of editing has taken place, perhaps next time a completely new thread could be started to avoid confusing folk like me that think they are going mad :D

Cheers,
M

The fastest I've take our Bongo was 130kph (80mph) in France. I didn't like that!

To answer the edited question - why does it cut out ....

is this a regular problem - always occurring on the same stretch of road? Does it happen on other motorways?

Do you drive at the same speed on the A roads? Do you slow down as quickly as you would on a slip road? If you do not use the brakes, does it still cut out?

i think it is down to one of three things either filters (banjo/diesel ) fuel cap/breather, or possibly leaky pump seals,i personally suffered this and have cured it but im not sure how,i say ive cured it i havent yet done the pump seals yet as i am waiting for old age to shrink my hands so i can get it to fit behind the egr pipe...

Do you lose any track of time at all when the engine cuts out..?
I have heard tell of this problem occurring on B roads..
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
