Professional WaxOyl recomendations Question

I know what your saying some dealers offer a waxoil inc with sale but cant be much good iam sure.

Yup. Mine had been in the UK 2yrs before I bought it and was still v good underneath. The slight rust 'patina' was if anything a plus for me as it would offer a good key when I got a quality job done. We've had stories on here before of waxoyling being done with the spare wheel still in place, leaving a bare area where you don't want one and also giving a clue as to how hurried the job probably was. You can do it youself but its said to be v. messy so protect the drive and yourself with breathing gear and put something on the ground so it doesnt get covered. And you'll need good acces underneath of course to do it. Many peeps prefer to treat themselves and have it done. Either way, for best result, have it done after a nice hot dry spell so things should be dried out on the Bongo and ready to give a good 'key' etc. The expensive places take 2 days min. and have a hot room they put the car in for some time to ensure it is dried out and ready for the job. You can't be sure the average garage can/will do that.

Ouch! That sounds excessive. Although I opted for a top job (£400 a little over 2yrs ago) I wouldn't have gone to a price like that. I think a decent waxoyl job with an annual check up and retouch is perfectly adequate. I'd try and find a decent garage in a part of the world where prices are not over-inflated and I'd try and combine taking it in with a spell of dry weather and an opportunity to visit and camp in that part of the world. That way you'd save money and have a 'free' camping outing to boot.
