Fuel filler cap

Post by lizard » Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:58 pm

I filled up at Safeways, and went off for easter. Filled up again yesterday 24 Apr, and found that the filler cap was missing  . I asked if by any chance that a cap had been found and was given a box of caps to sort through and told also to have a look on the fuel pumps. I had no joy with the box but, to my joy I found one on a pump that screwed on and fitted a treat.

The questions that I ask myself are:

How can I be sure that the cap is ok?
Will I have trouble if this is the wrong cap?
Should I buy a new one just in case?

I am a bit worried as the cap I found has "made in the U S A" on it.

Made in the USA...? Means there's a Yank with a Jap cap!

& possibly a car from the Netherlands with a Dutch one fitted...? :-k

But don't use the emergency ones... They're crap!

You know what they say..? If the cap fits...!!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

If you get a locking one from the Bongomeister, then put the key with your ignition keys, it's quite tricky to drive off without it.

(I know diesels don't have 'Ignition' as such, but you know what I mean.)
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

That's a good idea! I've very nearly left mine behind on more than one occasion... #-o
