Hi
Recently joined up as member, now have the benefit of the members area.
Have used the info to establish Fault code readings after the R4A-EL auto box on a '95 bongo, intermittently drops out of top gear.
Codes are 11, 16, 36, 62 & 64 and that sequence of codes repeats.
Seems like alot of codes stored when i only have one fault, please advise
and no fault listed against 36 ?
Was hoping to try and trace the fault using these codes but i don't know the next stage
There also seems to be a need of some pictorial info to see where these sensors are mounted.
eg shift solenoids A & B etc
Diagnostic Fault Codes ?

Re: Diagnostic Fault Codes ?
Try clearing the stored codes (which takes about 5 turns of the ignition key), then go for a drive until it goes into safe mode again, and read the codes again. A couple of the codes you got relate to solenoids that are in the transmission. These solenoids are linked together, and all replaced at once if at fault. It's not a huge job - the pan has to be removed from the bottom of the trans, and the valve body removed. The solenoid pack fits into the top side of the valve body as far as I can remember. You would do best to find an automatic transmission specialist -- not your local mechanic -- to fix. Maybe someone else on this forum has experience with getting lots of fault codes at once and can advise.

Re: Diagnostic Fault Codes ?
36 is "Glow Plug Relay Signal system" - probably a spurious signal.................
Clearing the codes on an auto entails removing the battery earth strap for more than 20 seconds and depressing the brake pedal.

Re: Diagnostic Fault Codes ?
Thanks guys
Rechecked the codes tonight, and they were exactly the same multiple batch, tried ign on/off 5 off times + but fault codes still retained.
Disconnected the battery, once reconnected checked and all logged fault codes had been deleted.
Ready for tomorrows commute to log the safe mode fault, shall see what happens tomorrow eve.
Thanks for your help

Re: Diagnostic Fault Codes ?
Just remembered about fault 36, coincidently my glow plug dash light has never worked, but did need to replace the relay about a month ago.
Maybe its linked with that previous fault ?
