Hi there,
Has anyone fitted a larger 40w plus solar panel to the roof of their ATF? If so how did you mount it and where did you route the cables?
Thanks
Andy

Dandywarhol fitted one to his AFT roof - PM him. I recall he removed it in the end as it didn't produce power worth owtapole wrote:Hi there,

Did dandy ever fit one that big? All I could find was the small one he fitted: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 2c#p220488
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth

I was thinking of an 80w one at least, and trying to make a frame up that fitted in the roof bar bolts at the rear of the roof. It would also need to be slimline to keep the height down, but you must leave a small air gap underneath to help stop the panel overheating. Waiting for the prices to come down, but this would help as I do spend alot of time away from hook up.
I don't intend to have a panel that supplies all the electrical needs, that would need to be bigger, but one that would substantially contribute would then mean when I am away from hook up I could extend the time by man days, and also would look after my LB in the interim.
TBH this is a longer term want as the prices are quite high still compared to running the engine or even buying a small generator, but one day if the opportunity arises it would be nice to know. I don't want to use a glue to stick brackets to the roof etc.

Apologies, should have made it clearer - I meant he'd fitted a panel on the roof so might be able to advise on wiring. For the rest, I've gained the impression from reading posts on BF that solar panels do not give v. useful bangs per buckDoone wrote:Did dandy ever fit one that big?
