Bongo and Baby
I have heard that you can install some sort of hammock in the cab of the bongo that would be suitable for a baby (six month old). Does anybody have experience of this? Does anybody have any other suggestions about what to do with a baby in the van?

Many thanks. I have updated the profile.

I used to have one in my old VW Type 2. It worked well when they couldn't crawl about but I worried when they got mobile. I'm not aware of a hammock option in the Bongo.
With the Bongo I put my little girl upstairs and we slept below. We did this from 6 months and has worked fine.

Re: Bongo and Baby
we're considering one of these to sling across the front seats...
Re: Bongo and Baby
this is how we cope, well did cope, I've just bought some foam and my sis is going to make a bed that goes across the front seats, she works as a trimmer for Aston Martin so should be good!

Justkampers.com the volkswaggen camper shop have a bay window cab storage and child bunk suitable for a slightly older baby that someone with ingenuity could perhaps adapt to fit the bongo cab.

Last night I made a bed for an 18mth old that just occupies the front roof section but has a netting attached to the base and clips to the roof. Will try to take a photo later to give some other ideas.
I always think with babies and very young children that it is important to keep the roof open while they sleep so they cant sleep over the hatch and prevent you getting to them quickly / quietly etc.

Re: Bongo and Baby
I have found a few sling / hammock options. I agree that the best place for a small child is in the front section of the roof with the adults below.
I have a fitted piece of memory foam but need something that will stop him rolling over the hatch. It would have to be strong enough to resist him kicking and rolling but would have to fold flat.
I am looking forward to seeing what madmiles contraption looks like.
Happy Easter.
