But this problem seem to come and go. Its very diffucult for me to explain to my local mechanics. Do anybody have any advice? Thanks

Maybe the spurious Mitsibushi soleniod you replaced is kidding the ECU to start the van off in 2nd gear :?

Oh, and welcome :)

The solenoid i replaced it last year in Feb08. My Bongo was running fine until now. I have this problem recently and can't fix it yet because it is intermittent. i thought it was gearbox problem. I replaced the Auto tranmission fluid but still make no difference.

If you put your location in your profile, we might be able to recommend a local garage, or even a local member may be able to help 8)

OK, when it next does it - select "L" and "HOLD" - if it isn't selecting 1st gear normally in "D" then it should do it in LH.

That will tell you if the 'box is at fault or if you've maybe a fuel starvation problem. Plenty bumf on that in "SEARCH"
