hi, does anyone know if a 96 turbo diesel auto 4wd tintop has an electronic control unit that manages the fuel ie oxygen sensor and the like , as ive been trying to improve mpg with a hydrogen fuel cell , and to get any improvement on mpg ecu's have to be dealt with, any clues much appreciated.

Re: ecu
No.
You only get oxygen sensors (if by that you mean a Lambda sensor) on petrols.
The early Bongo diesels (pre '99 I think) are good old fashioned, IDI, mechanically injected, "old school" diesels.
I don't even think they have a MAF - IIRC Dandy posted on that very subject recently.

Re: ecu
Interesting that the 'Essex' seller on ebay was offering 2nd hand Bongo ECUs for £15. What was he offering I wonder (I thought, though can't be sure that the part on offer was for diesel Bongos). Dandywarhol also goes on about ECUs (in relation to the danger of blowing them when fan over-ride switches are fitted). What part is he talking about?
For myself, I haven't a clue but it would be good to know there is no such expensive part on diesel Bongos
The one on my Spacewagon cost £650 to replace when it went AWOL
just after my job had gone AWOL
