Mazda Space Saver killed front Differential?

Re: Mazda Space Saver killed front Differential?
Thanks Dandy. I have finally found my service manual and looks pretty straight forward. Will also do a test drive with some kitchen roll taped near the seal (but I'm pretty sure the seal is gone as there are some supect oil splashes contained to the near side). Not sure whether I'm up to removing the left side drive shaft..Would a LandRover-specialised garage would be best for this type of work? If anyone has replaced the diff oil seal and know where to find replacements, I would be very interested in any info.

Fill it to the top and you'll blow a seal (if you pardon the expression - very common in Alaska I'm told)
I thought you filled the diff up untill the oil runs out of the filler, then replace the filler plug. Or am I missing something.

Re: Mazda Space Saver killed front Differential?
Yeah that was right but I actually had a doubt and thought the fill might have been at the top. Is that the breather on top? Topped up both diffs with very little effect. My near side wishbone was covered in oil but the seal now appears to hold out (no more leaking - so not sure if I blew that seal past threshold
). Suprised that the oil level had not dropped substancially. Will jack it up at a garage for a final diagnosis but now looking for a healthy front diff and drive shafts from a scrappie in London or Southampton areas. Should be a few but the nag is guessing the condition and getting the thing off. If anyone's done it, are the Mazda tools required easily circumventable?
