Hi Brora, Glad you reminded me. The facilities seem OK. It was the first weekend when we went and they only opened for that weekend so it was closed during the week as they are having building work done. As it turned out I don't think anyone went to the bar at night except BEXLEYBOY. They said it was quite enjoyable. We had problems with the water taps- mainly because they should have been closed and weren't quite ready. The water was always hot. The Area is good with the seal sanctuary and beach just across the road.Days out at Skegness and Louth were popular. Nice little shoppind area in town too. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Since I didn't really leave the campsite I can't tell you much more, but I am sure someone will be along with more info. Dont forget St Annes Take away/delivery. Fantastic food and very reasonable. There is fishing in ponds and you can hire a Microwave. A train runs from the camping site to the main Area of Entertainment etc. It wasn't running much though when we were there out of season. There is a Bus from the main area to town, but it is walkable. Is that info any good?brorabongo wrote:Whats the site, and the facilities like......most importantly the bar.![]()
Cause as some of you may know, we are heading there in July.......can't wait!!!!

If the prices in the bar are anything like the prices in the shop, it will be cheaper to hire a limo to take you into town, have it wait outside the pub all evening and then take you back to your pitch.brorabongo wrote:Whats the site, and the facilities like......most importantly the bar.![]()

As they say in Rolls Royce showrooms "If you have to ask 'How Much?' you can't afford it!"
There is a bar on the opposite side of the road, next to the Seal Sanctuary, which may be cheaper.

Bar prices are usually more reasonable than the shop prices, scanner - similar to a normal pub, but heaps more than Wetherspoons

Hi brorabongo
The entertainment complex is about a 15 minute walk from the camping and touring field. We found three bars the restaurant bar a bit like a wetherspoons with basic pub meals we ate there once it's OK and with reasonable prices.
There is the main show bar with children’s shows from 6 pm, quiz shows and cabaret and disco from 11 pm.
Bar price are not too bad about £2.80 a pint of larger and house doubles for £3.00. They do a four pint pitcher for £9.00.
There is another show bar upstairs but this was only open for cash bingo, the bingo books are expensive around £15 (we didn’t win) I think this bar is only open weekends with live music.
The camping field is a bit bumpy we woke up in the morning all at one end of the awning so find a level area!
The toilet block was clean, the men’s had three showers (one was out of order) and the water was warm enough. You had to push a button on the wall in the shower which gave 30 seconds of water, a bit of a pain as you feel the chill before pressing it again for a another burst of hot water.
We all had a great time and there is nothing to dislike about Golden Sands it was a great meet and well chosen,
We also went into Skegness, Louth and Cleethorpes
I still have the Golden Sands entertainment guide and map if you would like it

Re: Haven Camp - Mablethorpe from Fri 20th March
Thanks to all.

not so old..... Thanks for the info, it is usefull.
It's good to get an idea of what sort of site it is straight from the horses mouth.......
Not that I'm calling you a horse, or anything!!!
rather than from a broucher etc.
bexleyboy....We'll be in a Static, so not worried about bumpy ground.
Camped in a tent last year at Cleethorpes, We all enjoyed it but what with the size of the tent we had to pay for two pitches, A static for the week worked out to be only a little bit more, and also means a lot less equipement to take with us this time.

It all sounds good though........ especially the bar.

Cheers.

Hi
Just Like to say hello and thanks to eveyone that turned up.
Anna and Jimmy excelled themselves with a greeting of coffee and the BBQ Saturday even the weather was organised to be nice.
A chilly start

A quick game of bang the table

The Local Beach £2.50 to park

Ben puts mum in her place ( This facility was not provided by Anna & Jimmy but a challenge for the future eh! )

Regards
Mr and Mrs Pips & Ben

Spam in savoury pancakes on a bed or sweetcorn and peas rice, with a peppered white wine cream sauce and accompanied by a green salad with pineapple and green peppers with a herb and garlic dressing. Heres to a week in Hawaia
