Space saver tyre?

Post by georgey » Fri Mar 27, 2009 10:58 am

Hi guys, reading all the recent threads regarding the space saving tyre being used along side 17 or 18 inch wheels is there any point in carrying it or would it be better to get a normal size spare wheel if so what size? I have 215 55 17 inch tyres on alloys at present and a 2wd Bongo. Any advice appreciated...regards Geoff.

No matter what the rim size the spare should have the same circumference. I have alloys and have a steel rim wheel and tyre as spare. A full size spare will fit the carrier and give peace of mind if you have a puncture.

It should be called a waste of space saver tyre, it really is pretty useless, mine is on the drive waiting to go up the tip, I got a full size and it fits perfectly, peace of mind too but . as a braces and belt I also carry a tin of instant repair stuff just in case it is not safe (motorway) to change at the time.

Bin the spacesaver !

Look for a 215/65 x 15".

The rear std wheel (215/65 x 15") will be fine, it's a closer rolling circumference that the std front (195/70 x 15").

Another good reason to stick with the original steel wheels?
