Help with New exhaust
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere (did a search first!)
I've got a 1998 AFT 2.5D 4x4 and the time has come for a complete new exhaust system....However I've read that it's a different system for 2wd than 4wd
I've had a look underneath and it looks like a 4 part system, however on closer inspection it could be 3 with 2 joined by welding?
Found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-BONGO-FRIEN ... 240%3A1318
It does not look the same but it staes it will fit 3 & 4 piece Bongo's.
Looks like a good price too?
Any help welcomed ;o)

Re: Help with New exhaust
As I understand it - it is not 2 and 4WD that differ but whether or not the Bongo is "winterised" with the cold climate pack of 2nd battery and "fast warm up system" in the exhaust.
Do you have a second factory fitted battery and a rotating flap device in the front of the exhaust system.

Re: Help with New exhaust
Ah indeed I do have a second factory fitted Battery and a winter heater switch.
Not sure where to look for the other bit on the exhaust though.....
Would this be a completly differnt systems to the one I found on eBay?
Thanks

There you leave the extent of my expertise - all I know is that some folk have had problems other folk haven't - as to how or whycreepyc wrote:Ah indeed I do have a second factory fitted Battery and a winter heater switch.

If you are in for that much of a change it sounds like a custom fit stainless system would be your best bet.
Standard systems don't seem to last long.
Re: Help with New exhaust
Custom / Stainless sounds like a very expensive route for now....
I'll have a closer inspection underneath and make some enquiries....
Many thanks

Re: Help with New exhaust
A full std mild steel system leaves little change out of £150-£200, you have to fit it yourself and it may not last all that long.creepyc wrote:Custom / Stainless sounds like a very expensive route for now....

On the other hand some folk claim to have had full stainless systems fitted for under £300 with a lifetime guarantee.
Yer pays yer money..............................
Re: Help with New exhaust
That's a very good price, I was expecting it to be double that!
Don't supose you know where I could source these?
Thanks

Re: Help with New exhaust
Due to lack of funds and other Bongo issues needing £££ I had to opt for the standard system .... Not fitted yet but already upset on my choice as the Stainless ones are going for £250 on eBay with lifetime warranty....gutted!
Oh well....
My concern now is the new one has arrived as a complete system however it does not have any Gaskets with it, they've said thats normal....does this sound right?
Thanks

Sorry but this
says it all.£250 on eBay with lifetime warranty....gutted!
I did warn that a normal system would probably work out dearer in the end.
And after it falls to pieces again it will have done.
Re: Help with New exhaust
err come on...no need to rub it in, may be more expensive in the long run but right now I can't afford it!
Was really after an answer to my question....do I need Gaskets?
Thanks

I did say sorry and yes you need gaskets or no you don't depending on who did it how.creepyc wrote:err come on...no need to rub it in, may be more expensive in the long run but right now I can't afford it!

Gaskets are ideal but not apparently essential.
Re: Help with New exhaust
Ha Ha nice one......
I'm trying to kick up enough fuss that the complete system was not complete, as a result I want to send it back for a refund then as per your reply, go for the Stainless option
Fingers crossed.....
