rear wiper arm
Now, this may well be a stupid question but should there be a cover for the nut on the rear wiper arm?

There's a plastic flip over sheeth, yes. This pivots at the same point as the wiper arm pulls away from the screen. Is yours missing?
I've just replaced the rear wiper on ours (the motor had burn out), so may have an arm spare if you need.

its very kind of you... is the sheath thingy attached to the arm or does it come as a seperate unit, i just bought new arms but there was no cover sheath thingy with the rear one. So I would only need the plastic bit or do you think I should just get some plazzy 10mm nut covers and paint one up?
Thanks.

Re: rear wiper arm
The cover is over the nut to stop water running down the thread and entering the wiper motor - when I bought my missus a Fiesta the cover was missing off the rear wiper and it would blow the fuse if you tried to operate it - the motor had seized and when I replaced it i stripped the old one - as you do
- it was rusted solid inside. ](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

Re: rear wiper arm
Wilba, the cover is part of the arm - I don't think it's a separate part. It's similar to the front arms.
However, I wouldn't worry too much - my niece's Bongo came with the arm missing and I wasn't aware of any risk of water getting in past the door. The spindle passes through a rubber gasket (I sprayed some Lithium grease in there as lube while I was at it.)
Just make up a decor piece if you are bovvered, or get hold of a second-hand arm - I paid £5 + £5 postage for mine.

pm me your address and I'll post you my spare wiper arm if you need one. It's a bit tatty, but has the cover in place. I think the splines should be okay, but it was a bit struggle to get it off the spindle!

Some spray on satin black paint will bring dom_e's old wiper arm up like new Wilba.
