What mods are a must have and what mods would like to see
i'm just working on getting my first bongo and i'm trying to work out what mods I should look at adding to my bongo and which ones would just be fun to have.
Bongo now work later !!!

Best Trawl the pages of "pimp my Bongo"
I Like a bit of I.C.E but can get a tad pricey..
Plus a selection of strobe or led lighting is effective...

First thing after a good service is a COOLANT ALARM, deffo a must.
Then a MASON ALARM .
If your budget allows new SILICON HOSES.
then after that little lot, you know your engine is ok ,the skys the limit depending how deep your pockets are.

Lost without my Bongo.

Hi,
On getting your first bongo i would make sure its been serviced, and cam belt changed.
A low coolant alarm is a must, along with reliability, after that start by checking your bank account !!!
Myself i would start with the interior,cd,radio, speakers, sat nav,etc etc,the list is endless,i promise you.
Best of luck and happy pimping.

I will be putting ice in the car the sound must clean no distortions nice to hear every note, I will alarm it looking at a clifford but its going to cost £400 fitted, and discount on insurance as i'm on the lowest banding they do. the windows will be blacked out i'm looking at a low r level tint for the front windows too.
reversing camera might even be an option. might even look at LED's in the doorway in the back.

well most folks have listed the essentials..........Coolant alarms etc.......the rest is your call..........alloys, bodykits, tints are your choice........go to some meetings and glean info from members and see the vehicles in the "flesh" and decide what is best for you...

Definitely agree with the reversing camera. I wasn't sure it was worth getting it at first, but it turned out to be a real boon - especially at night (it's got IR flood) when the tailgate mirror is next to useless. Mine's packed in and I really miss it (it's wireless and I think I've managed to break the aerial on the camera).peanutcrusher wrote:I will be putting ice in the car the sound must clean no distortions nice to hear every note, I will alarm it looking at a clifford but its going to cost £400 fitted, and discount on insurance as i'm on the lowest banding they do. the windows will be blacked out i'm looking at a low r level tint for the front windows too.

when it comes to running cable etc how easy is it to remove panels etc as i'm looking at putting a sub in the back which will be unplugable.
as for a head unit not to sure what to get ever pioneer or alpine as you get what you pay for. looking for ever dvd head unit or going to put one in the roof for the kids to watch on the long trips from the south coast over to cornwall and up to scotland and wales. any recommendation as which units would work best i'm not so worries about the brand of dvd in roof as long as it don't jump when we drive along.

Put in a Leisure Battery and connect it to the Starter Battery with one of Willinton's Intelligent Split Charging Wiring Looms, then transfer the internal lights, radio and electric blinds if you have them from the Starter Battery to the Leisure Battery. You should then have no trouble starting your Bongo after a very cold night or spending the night in it as the Starter Battery should still be at full power.
You will certainly need to do this if you decide to have your Bongo converted with a fridge etc in any case.

One runs off a ps2 ond the other runs off a dvd/tv/cd/radio in the dash..
Keeps em quite for a long trip (usually)

P.s the side panel are easy to remove or pull back they are held in place with metal clips so loads of space to stuff wires etc.

Re: What mods are a must have and what mods would like to see
All you need to do is to upgrade to super brilliance bulbs H4 + 50%. I found a big improvement with my Bongo after I did this but it also depends on the condition of your plastic headlamps. The headlamp covers are made of plastic not glass and some blur with age and others come with a thin film on them to dim them for Japanese road conditions. You can find instructions on how to remove this film in the archives.

if they have plastic lenses is there not a risk of melting them if the bulbs are to strong.
