First Exhaust Section Length

Post by richie » Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:50 pm

Hello All,

I have recently bought a 4 pce exhaust off ebay that would replace the 3 pce that I had on my Freda, the age of my vehicle suiting the exhaust offered. The first 2 sections of the new exhaust were 1 inch shorter than the single piece they were to replace so that the mounting bracket could not be reached, this in turn putting the rest of the sections out by this inch too. Does anyone know if there are different length first sections available? The rest of the exhaust has gone on with my original first section ok for now. ( well.... I say ok.....I mean a few hours swearing and head bumping and spanners slipping of rounded nuts and eventual dismantling success by angle grinder and hammer...but then thats diy bongoing for you all good fun provided the coffee is sent out to you every now and then!)

I will obviously be going back to the seller, but are there different types? Is the Freda exactly like the bongo exhaust wise?

Cheers,

Richie

I've never replaced mine, but assume that the winter and summer versions must be different, due to the valve in the exhaust :?

This has come up before and - as franco says - the issue was I think over the winterised Bongos being different from the non winterised ones. Quite possibly, because of the previous cases, the vendor knows this. Have a search on here and see if you can dig up the old threads about it. I believe one purchasor successfully got it adapted (welding by local garage? can't remember). Good luck
