I got the green light, babe...

Post by Trouble at t'Mill » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:22 am

...and I don't know what it is. (with apologies to JJ Cale)

Located on the side panel a few inches above the rear heater controls of my niece's Freda, is a small green indicator light - looks light a dashboard indicator light as found in 60's cars.

Although a neat item, it doesn't look original fit. I even saw it lit up once, but can't remember why...

I'm pretty sure I tried switching the dashboard 'rear heater isolator switch' on to see if that was it, and had the rear heating running too, but the rear heating was on ok but the green light wasn't. (Unfortunately, I don't have the car any more to double check; niece finally came and took it away & it now resides in Edinburgh :( )

It just occurred to me I hadn't worked out what this light was for, and thought I'd ask on here - even with the limited info I can give.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi
Yup!...it comes on when you turn the lights on.....It was my first technical query years ago!....and it's a trim panel removal job to put a new bulb in
Cheers
Helen
In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

Well I'll be bu......

Never thought it was a standard item - I thought our Bongo was 'special'... :(

Niece is, indeed, a member - as of last September/Octoberish :D

Must admit, I felt it was 'cluttering' up the driveway for the last few months while we sorted out a problem with a dodgy supplier - but, boy, do I miss it now...

Thanks again.

Yeah, I was thinking more 'special needs'...

Ooh, not very PC - 'specially coming from an ex-teacher! :?

Hmm, why doesn't the rear heater control panel not just have 'normal' illumination - why does it need a stoopid green light above it...?

It needs it to give your 9 yr old son something to pick off and break in the first few days of ownership

There doesn't appear to be anything behind mine at all - & I'm not about to take the panel off to find where the bulb might have gone!!
