Availability of Bongo parts In Australia, service and repair

Post by chiefster1976 » Sun Dec 28, 2008 4:21 am

Hi..After recently moving to Oz i have purchased my Bongo over here at a good price..
Now work is to be started on it and i have noticed a banging from the front area both sides.
It sounds like drop links and needs further investigating.I understand they are easy to replace.. :|

My questions are availability of parts here..Ebay Australia is rubbish
Plenty of parts available on U.K ebay but hopefully did not want to import goods everytime i need something..
Can anyone give me a good list of parts which are spurius to other vehicles which will fit the bongo wether it be service parts( oil/Air/fuel filters, engine parts, ball joints, brake pads/discs, bearings, hoses,) etc..
There are plenty of the Mazda 323 around 95-98 fastbacks/121 mazdas. a few enos, 626..

oh and a BIG hello :P to all OZY Bongoers!!! Gavin..

Hi Gavin, a lot of bongo owners here use vauxhall vectra droplinks on their bongo's... I believe the vintage of the vectra droplinks used over here was still called the opel cavalier in oz,now the opel vectra of course.

If you take a look at the top of this section, there is a compatible parts database listed, just click on the thread and browse for the equivalent parts from other vehicles, you may have to adjust some model names to suit the Australian market.

Hi Chiefster
Have you thought of buying a spare Bongo, and storing it? If you got yours at a good price, perhaps there is a little lee-way cash- wise to consider it...There is a Bongo Fury member , and English firms selling bongos in Japan...perhaps you could get a "deal" on a scrapper...other than that, importing spares is probably the best option. I import my spares, and , for me, it is fairly reasonable, as any car spares here are dear....and double the price if they know you're English!....we usually take a Bulgarian friend along to make sure we're not ripped off!!
Maybe you can strike up a relationship with your local Mazda main agent...carriage can't cost that much if your parts come with their usual supplies from Japan...it might be worth trying a few dealers....practice your Aussie accent and swear a lot....you'll soon get the hang of it
Aussies?....they're great!!
Cheers

Hi
If you look at the last post on the "compatible parts database" at the top of the Techie Section, there is a link to a Chinese website which will show you any cross-reference . Simply get the part number from Lushprojects, and dial it into the Chinese site....
Good Luck
Cheers

If you can't find stuff locally, we can send stuff out to Oz no problem via TNT for a small supplement.
