Servicing - Is their a idiots guide floating anywhere

Hi

Really want to service my bongo if nothing else to learn a bit more about it, is there a step by step guide to servicing these babies??

Well

No but yes - I do have the capability and im not a dunce, but it's only since ive had the bongo that i want to get involved and understand things a bit more. I know alot of the business end
is under the seats. Any help would be appreciated

Well, it's pretty straight forward if you are talking about interim or small services. i.e. oil,air,fuel filter changes.

Cambelt/timing belt replacement is a little trickier, but still very simple on a bongo compared to some other cars, i think that wheelquicks mechanic stu's record of a timing belt change is 12 minutes!

Be aware that the bongo will require 6.73 litres of fresh oil with a new filter, so that means two 5 litre tubs, with plenty left over for subsequent top ups.

The air filter is a paper element(throw away) that lives under the drivers seat, or K&N do a replacement filter that can be cleaned, re-oiled,and replaced. (i have a K&N in my bongo).

I'm sure the proper techies will soon jump on this thread to impart their words of wisdom, take special note of tips and hints from Dandywarhol,Missfixit,teenmal,alphabetter,simon jones,and demon av, they know their bongo's!

In addition to what's mentioned on there - lubricate all your hinges, gas struts, etc 6 monthly if not more & do a yearly inspection & top up of your underseal/waxoil, check your spare is servicable & inflated as often as possible - drop it in the carrier & lubricate the mechanism at least yearly & make sure you've got the tools to do it.
