Greetings, im a new member here i joined to learn about the J5-DE engine that comes in some bongos, im more interested in part interchangeability then anything else, i have a ford probe with a KLZE (similar to mazda KLDE but more power). im particularly interested in the intake manifold, transmission and ECU. i was wondering if there were any pictures of the engines showing the manifold, even an image of the intake gaskets would be helpful and the trans and ECU.
the J5 has a lot in common with the KLDE (both mazda 2.5l 24v DOHC v6 engines), i believe the J prefix means its V configuration is at 90 deg while the K series is at 60deg. both produce within 2kw of each other, use the same spark plug and oil filter from what i have read.
there seems to be extremely little info on the engine on the internet so i was wondering if someone could also post a link to an informative site about the engine itself? thanks

Re: J5 petrol V6 2.5l engines
thanks for the replies everyone! some of the links have been quite helpful, i have a few questions i was hoping someone could answer:
1) the lower intake manifold, where it bolts to the heads, the left and right banks are they flat with respect to each other or are they angled? (according to what i have seen on the links posted its angled) the KL engines have a flat intake as you can see by my KL heads shown here:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/dstojko/pr2.jpg
(im just curious to see if the IM has a chance of fitting the KL engine)
2) whats the redline (shown on the cluster) of the 2.5 V6?
3) does anyone have a pic of the ECU numbers? im assuming its a denzo ECU the same as the KL?
4) is the airflow sensor a MAF/VAF?
5) all bongo V6 engines are mounted north south correct? (so any transmission would be completely different to the FWD east west facing KL series)
