V6 starter battery
first time posting for me so hello to everyone.
can anyone give me the correct battery details for the V6. ?
I needed a new battery 2 months ago i went looking for a
replacement went to a nationwide tyre/exhaust center.
but as all info was in japanese they had no idea what to
give me their supplyer assured them that a bosch silver
70 ah 630 cca was big enugh but since fitting it ive found
the bongo harder to start and cutting out after starting
could this be linked to wrong size of battery?
Thanks in advance

Re: V6 starter battery
Maybe the V6 isn't such a beast to turn over as the diesel, buts its still a big lump. I decided on something nice and beefy when I bought my 2.5TD a battery and went for 95AmpHr as I reckoned if I was going to be out in cold environments (or anyway) and using the odd device while parked up (no rude comments please) then it would be a sensible investment. But even so, a new 70AmpHr should be coping OK. I wonder what's up.

That's petrols for you........................

Re: V6 starter battery
Agreed. If it starts and then cuts out, the cutting out is not due to a battery problem. Chances are that whatever is causing the cut out is also causing the starting difficulty, although that COULD still be due to a separate and unrelated battery problem - but it's unlikely with a new battery.cheffy34 wrote:glen bongo wrote:hi and thanks for reply. the cutting out / staling only happens every now and again. starts every morning going to work. but seems to stall in the carpark in work in front of everybody at 5 on the way home.![]()

if it the battery surely it would'nt start at all, if it were my van i'd look towards coil, leads, plugs, cap or rotor arm, mine has been needy in that area lately, my dizzy cap is prone to taking water in really adverse standing water conditions so i've made up a cunning splash gaurd to divert any stray water that comes up through the scav fan
, it running alot better now and a noticable increase in fuel economy

I think I need a new battery as well, mikeon4bc, and once I'm sure (it's on charge at present, then I'll get it garage tested), I'll follow your lead and put a bigger one in. Presumably though, to fully charge a bigger battery from the engine could detract a bit from leisure battery charging on the road? Do you have a separate leisure battery and have you noticed any difference?

Re: V6 starter battery
No auto choke Glen - multipoint fuel injectors which squirt in more fuel as required. There will be a bypass device in the system to give a "fast idle" - could be needing setup.
