Aero Roof - does it have threaded mounting points?
Anyone know if the later style Aero roof has the same type of threaded inserts for mounting roof bars? Thx in advance.
Re: Aero Roof - does it have threaded mounting points?
Does the Aero have a different roof?
New shapes, like ours, have a roof that opens up higher, but it has the same threaded holes, and AFAIK is the same AFT moulding as earlier ones.

The aero roof is the one on the 2003 ish models with the little window on the front section - I think it does, but not 100% and havent got one I can look at.

Haven't seen that one - the "2003ish Aero AFT with a little window" - would love to see a pic on here, if anyone has one. Had assumed the Aero models listed post 1999, just meant full spoilers, skirts and low profiles.

Thanks, dandywarhol.
Ah, that's not just a big styling decal across the front of the roof, then!
Nice - and a nice one for somebody with the readies, at TW White, after a bit of credit crunch haggling, that is.

That £20k one at TW White is a petrol 2l 2wd. I've just looked at the specs of a 2l ptrol for the first time.
- 100bhp - well that doesn't sound much lass than the 130bhp of a 2.5 litre diesel does it?
- But wait- a 2l petrol has only 161 Nm of torque compared to about 300 Nm from a 2.5 litre diesel.

As Dandy's picture shows, the roof is slightly different & has a built in spoiler at the rear, which I don't think looks as nice as the tailgate mounted spoiler.

The "aero" version does have the threaded boltheads on the redesigned freetop (99% certain). In addition to the panel at the front, AND the integral rear spoiler, the interior lining in the freetop is completely different too... And the zenon headlights... The aero bumper and grille won't "mix and match" with "regular" new shapes either..Yet more detail differences there.

Hello guys,
My Bongo seems very similar to your photo dandywarhol.
It is a 2001 model V6 that has had a 'Devon Campers' side conversion which suits us nicely. We purchaced it in October last year and have racked up over 5000 km so far including a camping trip in January (very cold outside but toasty inside with the wife and our 2 young children...).
In reply to your questions, it does indeed have a small window on the leading edge of the AFT and evidently according to some official mazda info has a larger sunroof also. The roof inserts appear to be as per the original version and as bigdaddycain points out, it has lots of other details that appear to be different to the original.
We done everyone on a fantastic forum. Away again this weekend...

That's like the "Rolls Royce" of Bongo's there Tomgeo ! I'm liking these new shape bongo's more and more, (especially the aero's) But really can't afford to part ex mine in against one just yet.
Are those the U.V. resistant side windows i spy there too?

That is a nice looking bongo, welcome to the forum
I'd steer clear of any bongo meets if I was you Tomgeo, it'll end up being covered in drool
Only joking, get yourself along to a meet, there's a day/weekend meet at Wookey Hole end of feb, Brokerswood in March, Woodlands in May, & that's just the local ones off the top of my head.
