Reliable drivers side door earth

Post by Lewy » Sun Jan 25, 2009 12:03 pm

In the middle of this job and looking for a reliable earth to finish the HAwk alarm install.

If I use the basttery earth - or any bolt on the car the actuator works just fine - but if I try to earth to any bolt or screw on the door itself I just get a click from the relay BUT it does not push the plunger properly up.

I'm sure there is an earth there somewhere any ideas where to plumb in though?

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks Steviebongo - I found a wired earth on the windo switch loom - and have used that - its the black wire - righthand side of the plastic block as you look at it from the top. All seems to be working fine anyway.

That was the problem - it did not offer a good enough earth for the relay to work properly. I tried all sorts of screws and bolts. Infact looking back I did have intermintent problem with it first time round - thought it was the unit - but might have been the earth after all.
