welcome to the forum, for what reason do you want the split seats?

cheers.

Even tho Im off the tools now, Im a chippy by trade and would like a bit more room in back at times. Also from what I've seen you can put a sink unit etc on one side, if I wanted to in the future.

From previous posts I gather that the brackets for the rear fold up seats are not present on those vans fitted with bench seats. Also you would have to cut holes through the side panels and get a welder to fix the brackets.

Forum member Madmile is down your way and he converts bongo so he will know the full story.

Depending on how many seats you need have you thought of reversing the front bench seat and 'converting' the rear bench seat into a kitchen unit utilising the seat base and runners?

good luck

if your thinking of putting in a kitchen unit you can also fit it behind the o/s/f seat, then you dont have to lose any seating or bed space?

Pardon my ignorance guys, Im sure I could do these type of things your talking about but Im unclear on a few things.
o/s/f ???? If I put the unit behind bench seat do they need to be pushed right forward?
If I reversed the front bench seats and used the base and runners, what exactly would I be utilising them for?
Would it be the base of kitchen unit??

sorry for the trade lingo o/s/f is the drivers side front, and you push the 2 bench seats right back thus enabling for the fitment of a kitchen unit like the 1 that campers scotland does.hope this helps .

cheers.

Quite often people put a conversion across the rear of the bongo, and with twin bench seats, you could retain 6 seats in the rear plus some sort of conversion. I dont personally like these as it puts all the additional weight behind the rear axle, and makes the steering a bit light (the bongo is not a load lugger van).
If you want a corner kitchen, then its quite possible, but you obviously have to lose an entire bench and therefore become a 5 seater.
Fitting split seats is quite a big job and requires some precision fabrication onto the rear arches. If you want to try it, I could supply you seats, but would not personally take on such a job.
I can however see the popularity of split rear seat bongos - they definitely are more flexible for carrying loads.
