roof air vents

hi all,,,,when sitting in the back ive noticed some air vents (near the raise button) in the roof....

ive tried all sorts to get air to come out ( heater blower etc....)

any one have any ideas ?????

or are they just air circulation vents ?

you have to switch them on from the front ,the switch is usually situated by your right knee at the side of the steering wheel, it will have a picture of a fan on the switch.

cant recall a button with a fan on it apart from one button that has an engine sign on it .....

and when i looked in the manual it states something about warming the engine up

never used it.....

any ideas

If you have an electronic A/C then the righthand button turns the rear A/C on/off and allows you to set the temp. You still have two controls somewhere to adjust airflow, if you have been converted then they may have been removed or re-fitted inside the cupboards as they were originally mounted on the o/s behind the driver.

And whatever you do don't use the button with an engine on it saying "warm up" - you haven't used yet.

It controls a flap in the exhaust that (if it hasn't been used for a while) can stick in the closed position and make your Bongo run very badly indeed.

well i took all comments on board and went to try them all out.....still cant get no air out the top vents

i have the electronic heater system......

on the controls we have 3 buttons on the left

circulation button
front windscreen button
and another, to which i cant remember now (think its the rear windscreen)

i know i have the rear control on/off button on the unit also and the usual mode button and up down

THERE IS NO BUTTON ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE WHEEL (apart from the engine warm up one)

anyway tried alsorts of playing around in the rear, and still no air came out of the top vents

very annoying

If you have the full electronic digital readout system there is no button on the righthand side of the steering column, well mine hasn't got one, so that must only be for the "poverty spec" manual systems.

All you need to do is switch the rear system on by pressing the "Rear" button in the front panel so that the green telltale above it is showing. The rear system can then be controlled from the rear panel.

Or - If you press and hold the "Rear" button - the front display will flash and go into "control rear heater/aircon mode" - you can then control direction and fan speed, but not temp, as that can only be controlled by the slider in the rear control panel.

lol at the poverty models....i would have put a more subtle way but nevermind////

so yes i can press the rear button and make the panel at the back become live and working

i sat in the rear and fiddled the rear control panel and did allsorts

NOTHING got air out the 2 vents on the floor, but nothing at the top

does it only work on air con or both cold and warm ??????
because i didnt try it on air con cold

The rear (large) floor vent is the inlet the front (smaller) floor vent is the outlet so you will only get air out of the front vent.

As MFI says if you can't get air out of the roof vents whatever you do to the controls, the linkage that alters the airflow to different outlets must be playing up or broken.

interesting that only 1 vent should blow air ????? (floor vents)

thought the 2nd would provide the rear -rear seats with a flow

they are def blowing out both floor vents

id say the climate control of that age isnt that great and accurate

stick it on the highest ... 27 degs. i think and blows lovely warm air out

go to 25 degs once hot,,,,,,,and it blows bloody cool air

wether its more that 25-27 degs inside the bongo ,, i havnt checked

it might be 30 degs inside and the cool air is to bring it down ,,, dunno

Remember there is poverty spec and there is real poverty spec.......some really poor folk have no rear heating system at all................

If it is blowing air out of the inlet, where is the air coming out of the inlet - getting in?

If you have the Auto air conditioning, the rear air con is operated from the front display i.e. fan speed/ mode selection, and the temperature is controlled by the rear auto air con controls.
If the mode is set to upper body/lower leg mode, at 25 degrees setting, warm air comes from the lower leg vents and cool air from the upper body vents.
So says the Mazda Bongo/Ford Freda user manual and, by golly, so it does.
It is worth checking and using the different modes to get used to them.

one should suck air in and one should blow ??

not too clever if someones got an upset tummy lol

well, all the climate system works,,, hot and air con

but just cant get anything out of the top vents

maybe i just need to play around a bit more

hey, no probs when your sitting up front

just trying to make it a little more comfortable in the rear during the blistering summer coming up

although the other blowers did a fine job during the heat peaks we had last year
