Front fog lamp wiring

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
Well having had a look thru all 55 diagrams that show those 6 relays, and also another possible 3 on the o/s above those 6, they all seem to be variations on the following Fan1, Fan2, ADD FAN, Horn (2 possible positions), De-mister, Air Con (3 possible), Ignition circuit. However I won't swear that one didn't get pass me but they don't seem to have anything to do with lighting at all on that side. The are quite a few permutations on positions as well, which adds to the complexity!

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
Thanks for all that G - I'll just splice into the loom and fit a relay down by the main battery - cheers

Dandy.
There's a couple of places under the dash (drivers foot well) to bolt & earth a relay out of the wet..
There happens to be a couple of threaded bolt holes.. One is located behind & just up from the back of the cab fuse box on part of the metal frame work for the dash.. The other one is on the bulkhead above the beeping stuff.. From memory, i used one for the spot relay the other for the remote CL box..
I'll try & have a poke around & see if i can locate the position of the relay for my factory fogs tomorrow..

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Front fog lamp wiring
mine has the wiring for fog lights where the switch should be and a spare plug on either side below the headlights but have not been able to find anywhere that could accomodate a relay.
smoke me a kipper i'll be back for breakfast

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
When I trashed the front of ours I got a complete fog light set from a breakers. Came with loom to connect fog lights together (cable routed up & over the radiator) then to the relay with enough slack to connect somewhere ...
Just need it get back on with it & this post may have put it to the top of my list

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
Alan, if you look under your bumper and have a good old rummage you should find a cable taped up on the inside (both sides) You will see it has a plug attached (also possibly taped up), I suspect that plug fits the fogs.
If you have a blank next to your "rear" switch, pop that off and see if there is a white (blue sometimes) plug clipped to the back of it, plug in the foglight version of that switch, (i can post one to you if you need one) Plug in the fogs, switch on the sidelights, and it SHOULD work.
I haven't a clue where the relay is though,it was a plug& play scenario for me. I had to chop off the original plugs bumper end, as i fitted aftermarket fogs.

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
Cheers folks - I've got the switch wiring all setup - I can only see this red/red and purple wiring connector taped onto the o/s headlamp wiring - the red is fed by the number 10 fuse in the engine bay. Nothing on the nearside except a multiplug ending in a white unit - looks like a heat sink or something.
I'll have another good look in the morning - I've made up a loom to plug and play but I'm just curious if there's already something there to use and pass onto anyone else doing the same thing. The mystery location of the original relay is bugging me - anyone able to locate a "click" when they switch theirs on?

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
Dandy sorry for the delay, life got in the way ...
Anyway yes for your year there seems to be a version which doesn't use relays for either the headlights or the tail lights. However there is only a single diagram for the Fog's which does use a relay in the normal position but I wonder if your version ever allowed for that, maybe they didn't fit the relay mounting brackets even. In which case I would suggest using as relay anyway as it will prolong the life of the switch and just fit it anywhere suitable and get-at-able!
I tend to agree with BDC that in other versions the plugs is probably taped up out the way as I just can't see them having different wiring looms, however its not easy I don't think to see the full path of the loom so I think its going to be a case of out with the mirrors and cameras to see what can be found below the headlights but above the bumper mounting brackets as there seems to be a "shelf" which hides the loom when looking up from underneath.

Re: Front fog lamp wiring
i've brougt a set of fog lamps loom and all there is a relay on this part of the loom, the loom plugs in the plug behide the drivers side head lamp that is taped to the wiring for the head lamp. when i picked them up from the breakers the guy took them off for me so i could see how to put them on my van. the relay is in the middle of this part of them loom and it slots onto the spare relay clip next to the second battery. if you need any info about the relay i can take a look at it in detail, i'll post a pic of the loom later today or tonight. i've check out the loom and it all lights up on a battery how ever i cannot get it working in the car. the loom requires to live feeds then runs off to an earth on the body. one of the wires behide the head lamp is always live the other i'm guessing will be switch live. now this is where i'm stuck i don't seems to be able to get that second live wire to go live. behind the dash is the white plug which has a four wires in it the bottom two are live the top left is earth the top right should be the feed back from the switch to the front fogs. i've tried to send a live feed down this line with no joy i can not find continity on this cable ever. what i'm trying to work out is the a relay on this line as well as the one on the second part of the loom, i've put the fuse in place in the fuse boxs i've power running through the fuse box i've checked that. one other thing that white plug behide the dash is currently where my rear fog is pluged into has anyone else got there rear fog wired this way?
Bongo now work later !!!
