V6 timing belt

Post by manners » Thu Jan 22, 2009 6:47 pm

Can anybody tell what size (width No of teeth etc) the V6 timing belt is? Also whats the general consensus for changing all the pulleys, tensioner, water pump (I'll need a second mortgage) at the same time?

I've looked in to this before, when I bought my V6. Unfortunately the timing belt is only found on one other vehicle, the 2.5L Mazda 929, which was available in the US for a brief 4 year spell in the 1990s. So you are stuck (as I was) with getting hold of the genuine Mazda item for about £120.

I didn't bother with changing the tensioners or pulleys as these were very difficult to track down.

There is a pattern waterpump available from Blueprint ADM59136.

Hi Ian Ive managed to track down this in the US http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... OTORS:1123 he will ship for $40 to the UK but i don't think the belt is the right one as the kit is for the 3ltr and he wont split but according to lush all the bearings are correct. Even with the belt its still cheaper than the £300 for the bearings in the UK

Hi,

The belt is unlikely to be correct as it's a different part number, but the other bits seem to be the same which is good.

Japautosolutions are advertising a V6 Bongo timing belt a bit cheaper. This is on ebay.
