My dashboard only has 3 wires going into the back (apart from the 2 looms at the top). They come from my Speedm8 Kph to Mph chip - red wire to Ig (gives 12 – 14v), Black to SP+ and White to SP-. There is no wire to SP Out . The only wire left from the speedm8 is a grey wire that is also connected to my cruise control and is blanked off with insulating tape & I am not sure whether it should also be connected to the SP out?
I disconnected the wires recently to install the low coolant alarm light in the dashboard and as part of my alarm fitting. I thought that I had labelled & rewired them correctly but the grey wire from the Speedm8 was blanked off with insulation tape which I feel I would have only done if it was not used but I could be mistaken.
Since or soon after then, I have not had any speedo or odometer readings & get a flashing hold light. If I bypass the Speedm8 chip, I get the readings but in Kph. I don’t want to connect the grey wire without confirmation that it should be used.
Any advice?
SpeedM8 Chip or dashboard problem ... please advise.

The grey wire will probably be missing from the screw shown with the blue wire below (I had a diffenent make of chip, hence the different colour wires). This is where the chip output should connect to the instrument panel. Speedo chips need 4 wires connected:
+12v
0V / earth
SP in - from gearbox
SP out - to speedo

SP out - to speedo

OK ... my moment of muppetry is over (I hope)
. The grey wire is accounted for and takes the signal from the blue / white wire in the wiring loom that gives a speed in KPH if connected back to the top of the dashboard.
My problem continues my speedo is still not registering ... how can I tell if a pulse is being sent by the speed conversion chip?

Not sure if a multimeter connected to the output & ground will show any sign of a pulse as it may be too quick to register on the meter. If I understand it right: when you bypass the chip the speedo then reads ok in Km/h? If that is the case, then either there is not power getting to the chip, or its knackered.
