Engine Stopping

Post by spad112 » Wed Jan 07, 2009 5:20 pm

Hi fellow Bongoniers

Had problem today when driving in my Bongo.Approaching traffic lights, slowing down when the engine cut out(battery charge light came on)No judder from engine which you get when switching off the engine normally.Restarting was a bit of a struggle.

Can anybody explain reason for this.

Bongo to get MOT soon, hoping its not going to cost an arm & leg to get it through !
Any pre-checks which can be done ?

Was it struggling to turn over, or was it turning over ok but not "catching"?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Sounds to me like the symtoms I had when I had a leaky diesel pump.

Cured with new seals.

Chech around the pump for slight leakage.

It sounds like a fuel starvation related issue to me.I'd start with the fuel filter, then the banjo filter, then move onto looking at the pump for potential leaks....
