Front Heater

Post by al & chris » Sun Jan 04, 2009 5:59 pm

Not sure if front heater is working properly. Only seem to get hot air out of foot vents unless heating control is turned up to about 30 deg when hot air comes out of all vents. Recently had new hoses fitted. Could it be an air lock or would bottom vents not give out hot air if it is.

Check the linkages in the footwell, common problem, loads in techie on this, comes up almost every week.
Do the screen & front facing vents give out heat ok?

Screen and front facing vents only give out heat if control set above 30 deg. Foot vent works fine all through range.

Is that set on auto on the climate (edited  ) control?
I think on mine it doesn't chuck out hot air until it's set to 30ish unless it's on auto, might be wrong on that though. Check the temp sensor on the left of the cubby under the heater controls isn't impeded or the little inset circular sensor on the front (drivers side?) of the dash where it meets the windscreen.
Don't think you've got an airlock, or you wouldn't get any heat, it all comes of the front heater matrix, have you checked the rear one too since the new hoses? Just to make sure there aren't any other problems waiting to reveal themselves

Check all the linkages in the drivers footwell, takes 2 seconds to look,

Hi
Does the picture you posted apply to manual controls aswell,as I am having trouble getting the heat to the back of the bongo.I have checked that the switch is on in the front. Before I take the panels off the back to see if the fan has seized,I wondered if it had anything to do with the controls you have shown.

I was wondering about the heater system a while ago. Reading the Bongo manual, it seems a bit quirky. I can't remember off the top of my head, but it's somehting like - if you have the heating split between two outlets, one will be cold unless it's set above a certain temperature. I've still not got to grips with it to be honest! I don't have the manual to hand now, but I'm sure somebody can confirm.

Not sure on the manual controls, similar I think, but without the electrical bits, front & rear ducting, matrices & fans are completely seperate, so it won't be anything to do with your rear blower.
