Yes, Mike....that's minus 20 Celcius....we had minus 23 C. last year...the record over here is minus 38 C.....but rare. Normally only gets to around minus 15 to 20, and it's not too bad....only for a week or two....nice and crispy walking. Last year we had the same icicles on the Bongo for weeks....they were like iron rods !!!!

It seems "all is not lost" for those among you with Mk2 & Mk3's. The research and development boffins at work in the Engine Saver laboratories in Oz, think they may have come up with a solution. They are working round the clock as we "post".

I'm going to be grumpy here. Is the value of a 'high coolant' warning remotely on a par with the value of a 'low coolant' warning? In cases of 'Boiling Bongo Syndrome' I'd have thought the Mason alarm or the TM2 might be a better bet?

No, the low alarm is going to save a lot more bacon than the high alarm.

In cases of 'Boiling Bongo Syndrome' I'd have thought the Mason alarm or the TM2 might be a better bet?
The hope is that "if" your head gasket goes and gases into the cooling system (they do "just go" now and again) the Hi alarm should pick this up at once and "alarm" before the temp rises and more damage is done.
Same applies if a air lock is released into the tank.

The Hi alarm is just intended to cover a couple of events that the low alarm will not.

It will be cheaper than a TM-2 by a long way and really addresses a differant set of problems.

Part of the reason behind developing this add on is the suggestions in past topics that we do not try and improve what we have ( not true...we spend 90% of our time developing) and some peeps also think a Hi alarm would be handy. So ...now we nearly have it available

Aha! Now that makes sense to me. And as long as it doesn't add any significant cost to the alarm unit, then why not do it.

I have been watching the temp. on the TM2 after you mentioned the buzzer being a bit shallow below 10 Degrees...Today 4 degrees celcius and still a very good Meeeeep. Above 10 degrees it is very much a BIP
