Re: V6 Petrol Idle Issues
After I had my LPG conversion done earlier this year I had similar problems with stalling. I took the Bongo back to the installer (Autotech @ Ripley) who removed the throttle body and cleaned it out. That gave a temporary improvement but the problem re-appeared.
After some detective work I found that the engine stalled shortly after the cooling fans came on. Autotech suggested that increasing the idling speed slightly might solve the problem. They suggested that the adjuster was on the drivers side of the throttle body but I couldn't find it. On mine (Jan 2000 model) it is on the passenger side - very hard to get at & not easy to adjust. I did manage it in the end & the problem has gone away.
As a quick test you could adjust the throttle cable so that the quadrant doesn't quite touch the throttle stop & see if that makes a difference.
Hope this helps.

Hi Changed my air filter today. Old seemed in good condition but black and oily.bigdaddycain wrote:Is the air filter clean?
Put the new one in. Wow felt like a new car.

Hi guys,
In short, yes and no.
Had an opprotunity Saturday. Got some carb cleaner, set myself up and .....
Well the MAF sensor turned out to be very hard to get out on mine, gave up in the end. Basically my LPG ECU and pipework is around the air box and access it much tighter than normal. Got that all out of the way to find that I simply could not budge the air pipes to get the MAF out. Decided not to proceed for fear of breaking something.
I had a good look around the engine and I also suspect there is a small air leak post air filter side of the air box, need a stethescope to check that out better.
Had a similar story with the throttle body, it's so hard to get access. Managed to loosen all the clamps but the plastic pipework just wouldn't budge at all, maybe not helped by the cold weather.
On the good news front I did get some good pics which I'll post later, and I found a way of adjusting the tickover as mentioned in a post above. From the look of it a nut has fallen off my adjuster bolt so I need to get a replacement and fit it. That would explain why it suddenly started to tick over so slowly in the summer.
I'll post the pics later this evening and my plan on cleaning the MAF and throttle body is to see if I can get a time with Fred and discount trucks, in the circumstances a safer option.
On the good news front, the car is running very well and has not stalled at all recently.
With regard to disabling the EGR, from the research I have done this is not recommended on a petrol engine due to increased temperatures.
I'm also wondering if you need all that clobber. The air pipe runs all the way from the front of the car, is it possible just to have a K+N universal filter just before the MAF? OK the incoming air could get warm in the summer but how does that compare to dragging air all that distance through all that bendy pipework?
I'll update when I' have the pics uploaded showing the sensors.

Re: V6 Petrol Idle Issues
I agree with the k&n apole and there will be one to fit, the only prob i can see is the engine bay temp affecting the performance and running, it will need a cold air feed me thinks
but what do i know

Re: V6 Petrol Idle Issues
The idle speed is almost certainly NOT controlled by that - that'll be a factory set adjuster which is set by a vacuum gauge - tamper with that and you'll be asking for idling problems! I'll bet the idle is controlled by either a motorised idle control valve or a volume screw..................
