Glad you've got it sorted Glenda. By the sounds of things, your cambelt needed changing anyway as it had been contaminated with oil. I was advised by a well-respected Bongo garage, that they should never be re-used once they have been tensioned. When sorting out my head gasket problem I had to take the head off again, so fitted another cambelt even though the previous one has done zero miles, but I wasn't going to risk re-fitting it for the sake of £20 or so.

Absolutely it had to be changed. Unfortunately the 3 foot V6 cambelt is a tad more expensive than on diesel Bongos and takes a bit of fitting. But that is all history now and we are ready to Bongo again.........
