Hi
My TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem is quite well documented on another post. Just I thought I would share this thought.
I have attempted to find a new TPS via all the suggested locations and I have a few more people to call. Last resort is to start learning Japanese for "Excuse me mate can you direct me to the nearest Mazda dealer?" and then jump on a plane heading for somewhere in Japan. Just a thought why hasn't an entreprenerial Japanese person set up a web-site where we can buy parts and then have them air-mailed without having to wait for the slow boat from Japan (or is there someone?)
So the story of the dogey TPS goes on.
I am becoming an expert in driving with a problem TPS. So good at it decided to go ahead with the planned holiday at Disneyland Paris with my wife and daughter. Now this is where it starts to get a bit strange. The journey down to Paris was a problem or I should say a number of problems; On the journey from Portsmouth to Dover the Bongo was difficult as everytime I had to slow down the same problem of the Bongo changing gear when it felt like was the order of the journey. Only when I got to about 70mph was did the TPS stop interferring with the drive. Getting off the boat at Calais was a similar problem combined with an unwillingness to upchange out of 1st.
Eventually got the Le Mickeyland without any significant problems.
Drove around for 4 days and then headed home. So the strange thing happened on the way back. Not one problem!!!! Not even a minor hickup in a journey of 3 hours and then 2+ hours from Dover to home.
Now to the serious matter has anyone ever taken a TPS apart and then put it back together again. The nature of the problem seems to be so random it is feeling to me that it might just need a clean? or something like that.
I will test the diagnostics again tomorrow with my little bit of wire (after killing the memory) but I am expecting the same result.
Any thoughts anyone?
PS I know Bongo's can't fix themselves but I just wish it would go wrong in a more consistent manor rather than being so random!!
