There's a winch you access through the rear crossmember which is exposed when the tailgate is open, you should have a tool (ooh er madam ) with the jack etc in the compartment exposed when the sliding door is open to wind it down.

Go to the side door,
open it ,
look down at the plastic trim,
remove the plastic cover,
reach inside for toolkit,
reach inside for lowering rod,
go to back of vehicle,
insert lowering rod into the hole,
lower rear wheel,
remove from support and your away.......

And if you haven't a lowering tool they are available or quite simple to make.

Yep, slip the entire oblong thing sideways out of the centre hole of the wheel, whilst the wheel is resting on the floor via its cable. The nut is simply attaching the cable to the oblong metal effort.

If its a skinny spare, don't bother re-fitting it, nip along to your local bongo shop and buy a full size spare for obvious safety reasons...

Blimey - no way would I have sussed that. Yes, I have all the tools as I checked that earlier.

I think they were designed as a spare button for the jolly green giants suit.

I came out to the bongo once with a flat tyre, i removed the punctured wheel, and put it into my car to take to the tyre fitters for repair,i had more confidence in the jack holding up the bongo than the skinny spare i had at the time of taking the weight!

A full sized spare quickly replaced the skinny wheel, Which i can now only assume is now residing in the jolly green's giants embroidery box.

Thought I'd grease the mechanism last night - just in case I needed it. And guess what?.........

No lowering tool in the tool bag I'm sure it was there when I looked on purchase.

Has anyone got the dimensions (length, diameter, length and diameter of "pin", and distance off the end for the "pin") so I can make one up?

The unwinding(and jack lifting) bar is not in the tool roll. It is clipped into the upper recess of the hole where the toolbag is stored. Very well hidden !!

As Mick says, when you remove the tool box cover, you should - just - see the bar running along the top of the opening. Get your fingers around it, and pull gently down.

If you really don't have it, I'll get dimensions for you as I'm using it all at the mo'.

Internet was down at work today, but not before I read Micks reply. So as soon as I got home tonight I opened up the tool area........but couldn't find it. Felt all around the inside

Resigned myself to making one and logged on here hoping someone had posted dimensions (thanks g9dhe) and saw TATMs comment about "top of the opening".

One last look.......and there it is I wasn't expecting something so solidly mounted (and in my defence it is dark).
