Bleeding Problems

Hi, i am having great difficulty bleeding a bongo, I have been using a combination of BDC hose pipe method and the see saw method. This has worked for me in the past: I drop coolant and start hose flowing through system when outflow water is clear and a good stream is established start engine, holding end of bleed pipe facing upwards but still below top of head i waited until the output is regular and then attach a funnel to end of bleed hose turn off water flowing into tank and raise and lower funnel trying to displace any trapped air while ensuring there is always water in expansion and that the funnel never empties (no easy task with where they placed the passanger door ) This has worked for me before but today i kept getting bubbles coming through funnel, after over an hour they were still as regular and same size (approx 1/2 inch) they kept coming when the funnel was lowered but stopped when the engine was revved only to start again when it returned to idle? i am sure i didnt introduce air in through either end. there was no white smoke on start up, exhaust ran clear even after a cold night. Any suggestions as to where these bubbles are coming from ?

am begining to wonder if this is a head problem, but i see in other posts that the bubbles are described as high pressure ?

You may still have a leak somwhere . The thermostat must bo open for a correct bleed. Hope I am not telling you to suck eggs.

Cheers, its a much better outlook than the dooms day event, it had a leak so there may still be air getting in there. better make sure

I am waiting for a coolant pipe, shold be here Wednesday, then I will have a go at bleeding the system. Will be interesting to see how you get on . Have seen it done before (Thanks Hadyn) so It will be interesting for me as well next weekend .

thats why i practiced on my brothers one the result was that eventually the bubbles dissappeared, but not on this one ive seen on the forum that it can be done in twenty minutes. will try again tomorrow

Went at it again this evening armed with all i could gather on here yesterday ( loads of very helpfull information ). Used see saw exactly as described by Haydn funnel expansion tank and radiator level, all done, started revving sequence first 5 mins at 2500 grand lost of air being displaced, bottom rad pipe got warm during second sequence funnel trying to hop out of my hands, then level in funnel started to raise so raised it to stop overflow then she spewed contents of expansion tank out Surely irish water not that bad cant see what im missing... worrying i got more serious problems as when i got it off boat discovered no water in system so organised recovery home. was serious damage done before this? havent a clue how much they get driven moved around on docks and boats. starting to panic !Advice please

Sounds like it may be an idea to test for exhaust gases in the air that's being expelled

Cheers guys thats what i was afraid of will get test done, very annoying after doing the right thing and transporting it, lets hope its the lesser of the two possible evils

And if it IS just the gasket, it would have been well worth the initial transporting, instead of chancing it, driving home, and poaching the head... Got me fingers crossed for ya...
