What's the widest tyre you can fit?

Post by Jolly Rogers » Mon Dec 01, 2008 9:10 pm

I have got some 7" wide alloys what's the widest tyres I can fit on them that won't foul the arches?
Am I right in thinking that the difference between 215 and 225 is 10mm

245's have been known to run okay without rubbing the arches though, thats a question I asked a few months back but can't find the original thread now . . .

No idea about that either I'm afraid  I don't know how much wider, than the wheel, a tyre should be. 235 = 9.25 inches and 245=9.8 inches.

Maybe, but it would help to know the size of the wheels (17" etc)

You could try here for 235/55x17 http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl
You can search for a local fitter on their site - it seems to work out cheaper than getting a quote for fitted tyres.

Hi
Pah!!!! sissies....21 inch wheels wrapped with a couple of layers of insulating tape shiney shiney.........Seriously, though, I'm sticking with the standard for cheapness....the cheapest Barnum tyres are around 50 quid each over here, for a standard wheel !!!!!
Cheers
