No heat coming out rear!

Post by rgallery » Fri Nov 07, 2008 6:48 pm

My heater seems to work OK and air con in the front of my 2001 Bongo BUT I get no heat going to the rear. The rear fan is switched on and an led on the switch seems to suggest it ought to work BUT there is no sign of any fan blowing. Am I missing something very obvious? My van does not have rear air con BUT I would have thought it should duct some hot air through to the rear. Can anyone advise?

Does your van have a full conversion?

You say you have no rear air-con, and the fact it is a 2001 suggests you do.

Many full conversions have no heat/aircon in the rear.

I'd have thought no rear aircon would mean no rear heat - isn't it the same unit that does both?

There are very few vans without heating in the rear and basically they dont have a heater control so its obvious.
If you have a control in the rear then you should have air con in the rear.
Before the rear controls work, you need to push the button at the front controls that says 'rear' - this normally allows the rear to then work off its own controls.

Not on our 2000 year model, the rear can be switched on from in the rear or the front

It's the same on mine can be switched on from the rear.

Trevor is right many full conversions have no heat/aircon in the rear because it is removed to create room for water tanks.

As far as I know, Wellhouse are the only ones to remove the rear heating.

The rear heater on our un-converted Bongo has never worked, and after making sure it isn't air locked I ignore it.

You may well have a different view if you carry family in the back, but we don't.

Close by if you want to pm/meet.

How intriguing, i didn't know that some converters removed the rear heating... :?

It would appear that if the rear heater controls are in situ, yet there still isn't heat, or blowers, then there is a fault?

Interesting that the "rear" switch is still live if the rear heaters had been removed, why did the converter not disconnect the switch to avoid this confusion?
