Flat battery

Hi, whilst my wife was heavily pregnant we didnt drive the Bongo for over 5 weeks, the alarm system must have drained the battery, its a panasonic 85d26L battery. Is this too small for the main (non leisure) battery? its classed as 55map/h. should i get it replaced? also what battery charger would you recommend? thanks

Assuming yours is diesel, looking in the manual it says it can be either of the following:

80D26L 55AH

95D31L 65AH

So 55 should be okay.

If you have a multimeter I'd check that nothing is drawing too much power, granted 5 weeks with the alarm may take it too low but that is worth checking.

There is a review on battery chargers in autoexpress.co.uk under product tests.

I use a sparkrite automatic charger I got from my local motor factors. You can get much more expensive ones that intelligently charge batteries and are great at reviving failing ones, but they are quite pricey.

I love this forum!! its a 2000/W reg 2.0 petrol bongo with a leisure conversion. does this affect the options? thanks again

Petrols are much easier to start than diesels huw, so i reckon the type of battery you have is well up to spec.

The cold weather can really take it's toll on batteries, that in conjunction with the lack of use...

My alarm will drain the battery in a similar amount of time, i try to make a habit of at least starting the bongo up, and running it till it reaches operating temp once a week if i'm not using it.
