v6 petrol engine on ebay

Post by hogggman » Sat Nov 01, 2008 6:38 pm

hi all,
i got a couple of pm`s earlier(thanks guys)about this engine on ebay.i had a look at it,and can`t see the rocker covers.it looks different at the top to my `98 v6.it`s only £350 or best offer though.i asked the seller about compatibility, and if they could fit it if i went down.i asked if they`d do me a deal if they kept my engine.failing that,i asked if they`d sell me the head/camshafts etc if it doesn`t sell.

what do you think?

thanks

If it's a V6 why does it only appear to have an exhaust manifold on one side?

Surely it should have one both sides. Every other V6 I've seen has.

Sure it's not the 2litre?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

i agree,it doesn`t look `quite right`to me,but says it`s from a 2000 bongo,and mine`s `98,so i wondered if that was why it looked odd.
thanks

Hi there,

I have a 2000 V6 and the engine doesn't look at all like that. That can't be the correct engine, look at the pics. Even the oil filler is wrong, it's at the front of the engine !!

That is a 4 pot engine, count the inlet ports. Disty is different too.

I'd avoid if I were you.

That was what made me ask........................somebody needs to send them instructions on engine identification.
To be fair I don't think they mention V6 anywhere

Dear need-a-part-need-a-car,

Are your sure it's a 2.5 litre?

The 2.5 is a V6 and that doesn't look like a V6 engine.

If it's a 4 cylinder it's only a 2 litre

Looks like he was on the ball with his amendment then, as it didn't say 2.0 an hour ago.
